"Un-expected landscape" aims to establish a closer relationship between the nature and people and to encourage the celebratation of the experiences an Alpine valley can offer.

The project is a 20 metres wide and 4 km long linear strip that crosses the Alpine valley where current village of Lech is situated and marks an alternative way of settling on mountainous terrain. The strip – divided into functional zones – contains all the ingredients of a new independent village including housing and accommodation, public and supporting facilities.

With all of the rooms and spaces integrated into the rocky soil of the valley, the strip becomes part of the Alpine landscape. Furthermore, natural parameters such as the steepness of the terrain, solar insolation, relative height and connections to the surroundings are shaping different living conditions and spaces within the strip – from the mild and sunny slopes of Oberlech to the craggy and steep cliffs of Rüfikopf.
